Strength in Numbers: How networks of social enterprises can disrupt supply chains while creating jobs

Sarah Smith, REDF

Networks of social enterprise businesses have the potential to provide supply chain solutions to large (and lucrative!) customers while creating jobs for people who face barriers to employment. How can social enterprises successfully band together to increase their revenue and jobs created? Using the example of Impact Recyclers, the largest national network of certified social enterprise e-waste recyclers, this panel will study the mechanisms for developing networks, market opportunities, and the potential for triple-bottom line impact throughout supply chains. Audience participation will be encouraged to stimulate a discussion on other potential sectors for this network-based collaboration, and to drive thinking on network and business development best practices.

I’d love to see this session. As we are working with groups of emerging social enterprises in Colorado and many great ventures have been here for a while (Blue Star for instance!), it’s feeling like time to integrate this thinking and move away from siloed ventures. Thanks for proposing!
