Investing in Storytelling to Drive Social Impact

Kimaya Dixit, Hattaway Communications, Inc.

How can we go beyond the buzz of storytelling to create powerful, compelling stories that inspire and demonstrate impact? Hattaway’s team of storytelling experts will bring an interactive storytelling workshop to SOCAP15, using Hatch for Good to train participants on laying the foundation for strategic storytelling, captivating audiences with compelling content, choosing the best platforms to create and promote stories and how to best measure impact. Participants will share their inspirational stories to stimulate dialogue and discuss storytelling challenges and brainstorm possible solutions as a group. Last year, Hattaway Communications and The Rockefeller Foundation built Hatch for Good, a digital platform designed to help social impact organizations become effective storytelling organizations. Since launching Hatch for Good, Hattaway has introduced the tool to change-makers around the globe, and helped them harness the power of storytelling to drive social change. Workshop participants will also be shown a case study on how members of the Hattaway team traveled to the rainforests of the Amazon to create a motivating video for Runa, a social enterprise supporting indigenous farmers and reforestation in the Amazon.
