Learn About The Next System Project

Posted by on July 9th, 2015

We were excited to see the recent debut of The Next System Project, an innovative initiative co-chaired by longtime friend of SOCAP, Gar Alperovitz. The Next System movement is bringing together researchers, theorists, and activists for conversations about how we can work together to create new social, economic, and political systems that will put the wellbeing of people, communities, and the environment first.

A Call to the SOCAP Community: Discuss What Comes Next

The Next System Project was inspired by the conviction that economic inequality, climate change, racial injustice, environmental destruction, and other problems our community cares about do not exist in isolation, but are connected, and that this web of challenges requires systemic solutions.

To help further this conversation we will feature inspiring content related to The Next System Project at SOCAP15. The diverse SOCAP community features experts and innovators from every sector across the impact landscape. How would you build the next system? To learn more or sign on visit thenextsystem.org.

In addition to co-chairing the Next System Project, Gar Alperovitz is also the co-founder of the Democracy Collaborative and serves as a founding board member of the New Economy Coalition. He is a respected writer, historian, political economist, and activist. Gar’s address to conference attendees at SOCAP in 2012 focused on the question, “How Do We Build the New, Democratic Economy We Need?” During that speech, Gar invited the SOCAP community to join together to create become leaders in the movement to create “the next great American revolution, together.”
